This post is the twenty-seventh in a series in which we reached out to municipal candidates to ask their heritage platform. Responses will be posted in the order received.
Gary Kaschak was the twenty-seventh candidate to respond. He is running as the incumbant for the Ward 8 seat in the City of Windsor – the catchment area of which is south-central Windsor and includes the neighbourhoods of South Walkerville, Remington Park, and Memorial Park.
Yes, I have been backing the historic Jackson Park Bandshell feasibility study since the topic was brought up to City Council a few years ago & will continue to if re-elected.
Again, during my 8 years on City Council, I have been supporting proper growth & density, have approved most sensible developments and am a big believer in the protection of heritage and historic places.
The preservation & remediation of Willstead Manor has been a joy to watch and have really been impressed with the ongoing rejuvenation & final outcome.
