The thirty-fifth to respond was Rodney Hammond, Candidate for Essex Town Council – Ward 4. The responses are in the candidate’s own words only slightly edited in a way that doesn’t in any way change what they said.
Our forefathers, who carved out small communities along the shores of Essex County, need to be recognized and celebrated for their contributions in creating what we currently call home.
A prime example is the 150 yr. old, red bricked schoolhouse in Colchester. The beginnings our education system is illustrated here.
Our current education system is currently being revamped in accordance with the times. All the more reason for preserving our past.
One of most memorable moments was our trip to John R Park Homestead when I was in grade 8. It wasn’t nearly the Museum it is today but it still had a Hugh impact.
Like John R Park Homestead, the Schoolhouse could be great opportunity to preserve our History and the Pioneers that created it.
