Memory of Our Lady of Assumption

The first time that I remember visiting Our Lady of Assumption, I was 8 or 9 years old. It was for a family wedding. I don’t remember whose wedding it was but I do remember marveling at the tinted light pouring through the windows and colourful murals on the ceiling. My family was Holiday Catholics on the best day but after that wedding, I begged my parents to attend Holy Day Mass at Assumption. When I started at University of Windsor, I’d visit sometimes to study the ceiling. I can’t say for sure that Assumption is what originally inspired my lifelong love of art but it is a memory that I cherish.
